TOPIC FOR REFLECTIONS

JESUS IS THE PRIEST AND THE EUCHARIST: NO PRIEST, NO EUCHARIST.
                                           AND
THE INSTITUTION OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST AND THE MINISTERIAL PRIESTHOOD

In the Roman Catholic Church, both the Holy Eucharist and ministerial Priesthood are mutually related. Where you have the ministerial Priesthood, you have the Holy Eucharist; and vice versa.
The Holy Eucharist and the Ministerial Priesthood can not be separated.

Christ the High Priest on this day instituted the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Order (Bishop, Priest, and Deacon). It was at the last supper that Jesus sat among His Apostles as the High Priest, where He offered Himself freely as the victim and sacrifice.

Therefore, Christ being the victim and sacrifice instituted the Holy Eucharist, and he commanded that it should be done in memory of Him. So, for the re-enactment of the Holy Eucharist, there is a need for people to share in the ministerial Priesthood of Christ.
Then, the Apostles who were present at the last supper were consecrated by Christ to succeed Him. Hence they became the first Bishops who are the fullness of Christ's ministerial Priesthood. They were the ones who moved to all parts of the world ðŸŒŽ and starts consecrating other Bishops.

Invariably, each Roman Catholic Church Bishops and any Bishops of other rites who are in communion with the Roman Catholic Church can trace his Apostolic lineage to the Apostles of Christ. For instance. your diocesan bishop can trace his Apostolic lineage to a particular Apostle; that is, your Bishop's lineage may be traced to either St Peter, St. James, or St John the Apostles.

This is more reason the Chrism Mass is being celebrated on this day to mark the institution of the ministerial Priesthood, and for the Priests in the diocese to express solidarity and communion with the diocesan bishop who is the fullness of the priesthood of Christ.

Meanwhile, in the evening, the Mass of the Lord's Supper is celebrated to commemorate the institution of the Holy Eucharist at the last supper by Christ.

If observed keenly, both Mass of the Chrism and the Last Supper of the Lord are celebrated on the same day; this is to show that the ministerial Priesthood of Christ cannot be separated from the Holy Eucharist.
Therefore, Jesus is the Eucharist and the Eucharist is Jesus.

Finally, let us remember that with the Mass of the Lord's supper, the Easter Triduum commences.

I wish you a Fruitful and Happy Easter Triduum.

Peace ✌️ be with you.
