TOPIC FOR REFLECTION

*SABBATH IS MEANT FOR MAN AND NOT MAN FOR SABBATH.*

If someone has a peptic ulcer and is expected to eat something every one-hour interval, and this person from inside the church will often go out to eat and come back, and if you refuse to enquire from him why he eats every interval of one hour, will you not become judgemental, if you suddenly begin to scold him?

My dear, laws are given to guide us in the right part, and not to punish us.

Do not be like the Pharisees who use the law of the sabbath to destroy people but to justify their selfish corrupt nature

Laws are made for man and not man for law

Man is meant to keep the law, and that the law may keep him.

Laws are collation of words to guide us, but human beings are the image of God.

Invariably, laws have no life without the presence of human beings.

Therefore, it is human beings who give life to laws, rules and regulations and by extension, the Sabbath day.

Sabbath days are meant for man to serve and worship God.

Remember, it is only the living who can be alive to worship God, while the dead can not serve and worship.

Let me ask you some questions

1. Can you be fine if you are hungry and there is no food available to eat?

2. If hunger has dealt with you once, can you recall how sick you looked like?

3. If on the sabbath day, no work must be done, but who will now treat a person who would suddenly falls sick on the sabbath day?

4. If it's unlawful to work on sabbath day, then no one should go out of his or her house, not even to church, market, or talk,  because all the listed are work on their own.

5. However, God whom we serve on sabbath day is compassionate and loving, He will want us to be healthy to worship Him, if, for genuine valid reasons, one works on Sabbath day, or cannot come to worship God on Sabbath day, will God kill the person?

This is to tell us that Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, what is needed is sincerity and genuineness in all our dealings.

Do not kill yourself because you are keeping the law, rather allow the law to nourish and make you more responsible.

As St. Paul advised in today's first reading, let us not use the law of the Sabbath to commit evil, rather we should be pure in mind because Jesus who is the Lord of the Sabbath has reconciled us to God, to presents us with holy and blameless and irreproachable before God, provided that we continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel which we heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven,

May God help us so that the Gospel of Jesus be regarded above the law of the Sabbath.
