THE TRANSFIGURATION OF THE LORD (Feast)


First Reading. Daniel 7: 9-10, 13-14

TOPIC FOR REFLECTION


AS A CATHOLIC PRIEST, I ASK: CAN OUR NATION BE TRANSFIGURED WITH THE LORD? 

YES, IT CAN.


Today, kindly permit me to reflect on the state of our Nation.

A Nation filled with milk and honey, and uncountable natural mineral resources, yet all her citizens are living in abject 1st class poverty.


The state of our Nation can be compared to... 

1. Fish inside the river, yet thirsty for water. 

2. The child of a cobbler, walking barefooted.

3. The child of a rich, who still goes around begging for food.

4. Living amid plenty, yet lacking all.

5. A physically balanced child, yet becoming physically challenged. 


Hmm, where do we go from here, who shall we turn to?


Well, It is good to obey the voice of the person who obeys the voice of God in His people, rather than obeying the voice of money which destroys God's people.

Corrupt money corrupts the soul, let us be careful.


God loves those that are truthful, just as He loves His Son Jesus who is truthful and became transfigured today.


If a Nation can be truthful, then it can be transfigured from its corrupt nature to its divine nature.


My dear, for a Nation to become transfigured, we need to follow God's voice. Primarily, the voice of God is LOVE, because He is the fullness of Love, hence we are to love God and our neighbour.


Similarly, the voice of God is eternal and it can transform and transfigure the soul. Imagine if the voice of God can transform a soul, automatically if all individual souls in a Nation and the whole world are transformed, will the nation not be transformed? 

However, the voice of money is canal, and it can only destroy the soul.


One of the major problems in our Nation today is that we celebrate corruption at the highest levels. From TOP to BOTTOM.

In such a situation, how can the Nation be transformed?


A Nation that does selection and not election can not be transfigured.

A Nation that celebrates corruption and silence honesty, can not be transfigured.

A Nation whose politicians are a gang of thieves can not be transformed.

A Nation whose political leaders are corruption personified can not be transformed.

A Nation where the election umpires, aka INEC officials, sold the political office for the highest bidder, would not only suffer, but their generations to come will suffer the same.


Therefore, my fellow citizens, let us not despair or become despondent, because these too will pass away, and our Nation shall rise again. 

Remember the Israelites who were tortured in Egypt, when it was time for God to liberate them,  Pharaoh and all his armies perished inside the red sea. This should be our consolation. 


Similarly, a neighbouring Nation called Rebuplic of Niger was recently liberated, yet a corrupt leader who is Ecowas president and at the same time, the president of a Nation is trying to instigate WAR. Hmmm.

Has he forgotten he will soon die?

All the looted money he uses to suppress and oppress the poor masses will soon destroy him.


Unfortunately, by the time the Nation will be transformed and transfigured, all the criminally minded persons would be found wanting.


So, my dear, let us allow the Spirit of God to dwell in us, and not allow the criminality of the corrupt leaders not dampen our spirit.


A day is approaching, a day I do not know, when the Angel of vengeance, the Angel of death will descend on all the corrupt criminally minded politicians and be brought down, while the faithful people of the Nation shall be transformed and transfigured with the Lord. 


Therefore, let us as individuals allow Jesus to take us along with him together with Peter, James, and John, to the mountain for prayer. So that as Jesus would be praying, His clothing would become dazzling white. I believe that as a Nation when we are present with Jesus, and as He is been transfigured, we could be able to become transfigured with Him.


Meanwhile, we as a Nation should learn to stop being evil, shun corruption, be good to one another, and live in love.

These quality dreams can be very much possible if we give a chance to fresh blood irrespective of tribe, religion, and party affiliation. 

Let us not sell out the future cheaply for selfish reasons.


My dear, rejoice with me that our Nation shall be transfigured and rise again from the worst to the best in God. 


Stop selling tour birthright

Try to become transfigured with Jesus as an individual. 


Say to yourself...


I must be transfigured

You must be transfigured

our Nation must be transfigured, 


Peace ✌️ be with you.
