YOU ARE TO WIN SOULS FOR GOD

Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.”

The question is, are you ready to become a labourer in the vineyard of God?

Though, many of us have the conception that it is only the Priests and Religious who solely have the mandate to win souls for God; however, I will like to let us know that it is not only the priests and religious that must win souls for God, but it is the responsibility of all baptized Christians, especially Catholics.

As baptised Catholics, we share in the priesthood of Christ, and by that virtue of sharing in His Priesthood, we automatically become co-missionary with Him in His redemptive work.

In that case, we should have in mind that as God delivered the Israelites from Egypt, so does He save us in the same manner. Still, He saves us out of His love for us, and He said: "Now therefore, if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my own possession among all peoples; for all the earth is mine, and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”

My dear, the Lord had declared in the first reading that we are His people, but the devil had misled many of God's children which made Jesus sacrifice Himself for the lost sheep, the sinners. This is what St. Paul attested to in the second reading.

Meanwhile, in the Gospel, Jesus had compassion for the many people who wandered about like sheep without a shepherd, hence He chose twelve men to become His disciples, and He commissioned them to go and preach saying: "The kingdom of heaven is at hand. ’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without pay, give without pay.”

Therefore, if Jesus could die for our sins because of His love for us, we too have the obligation to sacrifice for others, by bringing them to God most especially through our exemplary lives.

So, as baptised Christians, especially Catholics, we too by extension are been commissioned to go out to announce that the kingdom of God is at hand.

However, one of the reasons evil continues to prevail in our society today is that most of us feel that the work of evangelization is meant for priests alone, hence they act and feel unconcern for sanity, and they even promote evil. To correct one another become nobody's business, but today I correct that impression; know that all of us are to save one another's souls.

Start the evangelization with yourself, your immediate family members, your friends, and all whom you come in contact with.

As we carry out these works of evangelization together, the kingdom of heaven will be filled with souls,  while the kingdom of darkness will become empty.

Peace ✌️ be with you.
