First Reading. Isaiah 50: 4-9

TOPIC FOR REFLECTION 

BETRAYER: WHO ARE THOSE THAT BETRAY? 

It is only your family and friends whom you trusted that can betray you. Your enemy can not betray you. 

Those who know you will betray you. Judas betrayed Jesus, likewise, those whom you eat and dine with you may betray you. 

Whoever does not know your secret can not betray you, in fact, such has no information about you to feast on as a means of a betrayer. This means no outsider who does not know you can betray you, but your closest friend. 

The word betrayer has destroyed humanity. The word betray is an act of inhumanity to humanity. 

Experience has taught me lots of wisdom in life. I have lived, wined, and dine with betrayers of many different categories, though unknown to me, but my survival was anchored on the words of 1 John 4: 4 because of God's promises in Psalm 91.

Hence, these ugly experiences made me summarize, though my personal opinion on who are the categories of people who betray most in life. 

These people are in 6 categories. 

1. LACK OF SELF-CONTENTMENT. 

Anybody who is never content with what he or she has will have a great tendency to a betraying spirit. Seeing people who have more than he or she will keep him/her uncomfortable. Such will be ready to do anything to betray who has it, to possess it. 

2. THOSE WHO ARE MATERIALISTIC CONSCIOUS. 

This is in line with the first one. A person who loves material wealth would do anything to acquire it. Such lives and dine with betraying spirits. Such a person betrays both the living and the dead to achieve his or her material goal's achievement. Their motivation is to show off the latest house, car,  etc

3. A SELFISH/GREEDY PERSON 

The most dangerous people on earth are those who are selfish. Selfish people are greedy people. A selfish/greedy person will never want the progress of others. Such can betray the whole world for his selfish gain. So, having them as friends simply means you should be ready to be betrayed often. 

A selfish/greedy person has a strong tendency of becoming a strong thief. 

Just imagine how the greed of Judas led him to betray Jesus. Greedy for wealth is the willingness to kill. 

4. THOSE WHO ARE POWER CONSCIOUS 

A power-conscious person is a betrayer personified. Killing, maiming, rigging, and manipulating, which are all forms of betraying would be carried out, just to achieve power. Such people imposed themselves on others even after betraying them. 

5.  A PROUD PERSON.

A proud person will always want to outshine others. He will never be comfortable where he will not be recognized. In fact, proud people have all the aforementioned traits in them. 

Another name one can give to a proud person is the betrayer. 

6. A JEALOUS PERSON. 

Jealous people are deadly people. They never want others to be above them. Their jealous nature made them become the constant betrayer. 

My dear, you can add yours. 

In this Holy Week, let us try not to be like Judas, but like another Jesus who sacrificed for our being.

DO NOT BE A HYPOCRITICAL PERSON
