TOPIC FOR REFLECTION

A GOOD CHRISTIAN SHOULD...

I had the inspiration to write about Christian duties

***Learn to be quick to hear,

but slow to speak.

MEANING...

You learn more by listening keenly, wisely, and prudently before you respond. This will help one to think very well before responding. Invariably, it will be thinking before talking.

***Learn to control his or her anger, for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God.

MEANING...

Anger destroys and never builds

Anger causes sicknesses such as heartburn, ulcer, pain, blood pressure, etc

Anger causes sleepless night

Anger attracts more enemies than friends

Hence, all the few among many listed above about anger do not work in the ways of the Lord.

***Learn to put away all filthiness and rank growth of wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted Word, which can save our souls.

MEANING...

We should not allow our greedy nature to be nurtured with the filthiness of any kind, if not, it will mature into wickedness.

***Be the doers of the Word, and not hearers alone, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who observes his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.

MEANING...

Let what we hear bear fruits in our lives.

Our lives should be the Bible others will read to know more about God

If we live by example for others to follow God, it means we are the doers of the Word and not hearers alone

***Look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer that forgets but a doer that acts, he shall be blessed in his doing.

MEANING...

If we act on the word of God, He will be happy with us, and His blessings shall continue to be upon us.

***Learn to control his or her tongue, then his or her heart would not be deceived.

MEANING...

If one can control his or her tongue, the heart would be at peace because it will be devoid of deception.

***Visit the orphans and widows in their affliction, and keep oneself unstained from the world.

MEANING...

One should embrace the works of charity, this act is bringing God closer to the afflicted and at the same time, one is building a beautiful home for oneself in heaven.

***Have absolute faith in God because with Him all things are possible. He who restores the eyes of the blind, can and will grant us unmerited healing of all our infirmities.

Peace ✌️ be with you
