TOPIC FOR REFLECTION

*LOVERS OF MONEY ARE NATURALLY DISHONEST*

What you are conscious of influences your way of life.

It is easy to be an honest person, but much easier to be a dishonest person.

God is honest, while satan is dishonest.

So, choose one, you cannot serve the two of them together.

Jesus said: No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

Anyone who seeks God seeks honesty, while those who do not seek God do not seek honesty.

The moment we hold onto the pillar, the source of our life which is God, it will not be a big deal, to be honest.

On the contrary, the moment we let go of the pillar of our life, and we begin to pursue the shadow, and since the shadow is not stable, we too will gradually become unstable to catch the shadow.

Psalm 11:3 says: Foundations once destroyed, what can the just do?

If in our life we destroy God because of our love for money, what can the person achieve in life?

Remember, if you must catch a monkey, you must behave like a monkey. Invariably, if you want to catch a shadow, you must behave like a shadow.

Money is a shadow, this moment it's with you, next moment it's gone. Money is never stable, only God is stable.

Those who pursue God have stable and steady characters like the God they pursue, while those who pursue money have unstable characters like the money they pursue.

Stanble character means honest character, while unstable character means dishonest character.

Just observe those around you who are conscious of God, they struggle to behave like an honest God, while those who are money-conscious behave like the dishonest money they pursue.

In our society today, most of us are money conscious, both in the church, mosque, offices, marketplaces, homes, etc.

This is more reason, we the lovers of money become unstable, and dishonest because the money all of us are pursuing is unstable, yet none of us have all the money, but in other to have more than the others, we become dishonest and cheat on one another.

As Jesus said in today's Gospel, a person who is not faithful in what does not belong to him, who will now give him what belongs to him?

Interpretation

If being a money monger makes one deny God and be unfaithful, who will now give him his inheritance in the kingdom of heaven which has been prepared for him?

If while on earth now, we abandon God who can save us to pursue money that can not save us, is it the same God whom we abandoned while on earth that will save and admit us into our inheritance which is His kingdom? Cf. Matthew 10:33.

Food 4 thought.
